5-2. How to Obtain a Goshuin and Etiquette
Since a Goshuin is received as “proof of worship,” it is important to observe basic etiquette.
【Goshuin Procedure】
- First, always pray at the designated temple or shrine.
- Politely request a Goshuin at the Goshuin reception (Nokyosho).
- Do not hand over your Goshuin book directly; place it on the reception counter.
- Pay the offering fee (usually 300-500 yen). Having small change ready will make the process smoother.
- After receiving the Goshuin, bow with gratitude.
【Points to Note】
・Goshuin are not a “stamp rally.” Receive them after a sincere visit.
・Sometimes, they are pre-written (written on a sheet of paper), so a clear file for carrying it home is convenient.
